SGT Ralph E. Maples Memorial Scholarship

The SGT Ralph E. Maples scholarship fund was established to honor and continue his legacy of service and commitment to the community. Ralph a veteran of the United States Army, served as a Drill Sergeant and was a Korean War Veteran where he was awarded the Purple Heart. After transitioning from the military, he continued to serve his community as a Sergeant with the City of Monroe Ohio Police Department. In addition, he worked full time with Miami Carey, he fully retired in 1989. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He enjoyed his time at Meijer Cafe where he and his friends shared coffee and engaged in meaningful conversations. Ralph knew no strangers and everyone was welcomed to pull up a chair at the table. Ralph lived a life of service. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to those who needed it. His legacy of service to others will live on in our memories and the values he has left for all of us.

The Scholarship in his honor will allow transitioning Veterans, National Guardsmen, and Reservists to carry on Ralph's dedication to service through enrolling in the Police Academy or pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice. Scholarship recipients will receive $500.00 to use toward tuition, books, and/or supplies. At this time, candidates must reside or intend to reside in Butler County, Ohio.
